Why do I need a capnography device?
When performing sedation dentistry or oral surgery, ensuring patient safety through adequate ventilation monitoring with a capnograph is essential. Both American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) require the use of capnography for patients under sedation. In addition, the American Dental Association (ADA) has just revised its guidelines in November 2016 to recommend the use of capnography on all sedated patients.
